I tried posting this comment on your other blog but had user-difficulty.
I really enjoyed reading your post on CAO's website. Kregel just published a book I worked on that is designed to help believers develop a God-centered ministry to orphans.
The term I used for the phenomenon you described is "passionless compassion"--having compassion for the orphan without first having a passion for God.
